Cooked for him, drove him around, watched his singing video, chatted/kidded around. M took him birding/kayaking/golfing.

Glorious strange day... In sunny times, helping friend to look after old mates in a storage warehouse !
I felt in good mood during all day, because it was the first friend I helped... and this particular day, three old friends asked for help...

A young woman was trying to walk down the stairs in a subway's station, with three suitcases. While I was helping her with the heaviest one, a crowded subway arrived at the platform. In the stream of people who went down the stairs, spontaneously, a man went down the other two suitcases. A nice gesture....
I had forgotten that there could still be spontaneous gestures of mutual aid... and, given the weight of the suitcases, it was good to remember the usefulness, sometimes, of "muscle strength"

Bread: Had the time and took the time to bake a fresh loaf of bread yesterday. It added some much needed and welcome variety into lunches and breakfast.
A side benefit were memories of Dad and Mom associated with home baked bread. Thankful for the positive emotions.

I'm just happy for myself making it to the gym and going hard and eating well today and for the privilege of my lifestyle.
It makes me feel good for where I've came from. Even though I'm still not where I want to be I still am doing okay. And can always get better and try harder at things and just actually DO things.

Mike and Susan opened up their home to our family at the last minute and spared us from being in our house with no electricity.
It is very generous; they treated us to dinner and dessert too and it was so enjoyable talking with them.

It kept our family in a cool place so we could get rest comfortably.

Got up early and was able to do all the laundry before peak SMUD hours and clean up the kitchen!
Saved me money 😁 But more importantly, I was able to spend my afternoon helping my daughter with college searches which have been more stressful with adding all the volleyball recruitment into the mix. It was an all around productive day.

We boated into town - grey skies and windy. Just as we got into our truck, the rain poured down and it hailed.
We were so fortunate to miss the rain while boating in! We stayed safe and dry
